Hello Hoopers!
Nows your time. The new poll will give you a chance to share what area of hooping you want to work on. Is it leg hooping you want to improve in? Maybe bringing the hoop to your chest is what gets you going? Perhaps some off the body hand hooping moves are what you want or maybe you're looking to move through the hoop in as many ways as possible!
Which ever it is, now is the time to share it. Vote in the current poll to share your desires and as well feel free to post a comment with a specific move you'd like a break down of.
Having trouble describing the move? No worries, just find a video that has an example of it, post a link to it and include the time that it happens within the video.
Looking forwarding to hearing your requests!
Much love and all the best,
~ SaFire ~

Hello!
So Friday was a busy night for me as I had two shows in one night. My first of the evening was for Ignite Social Justice which was for their 4th annual cultural concert, Utopia: Celebrating Diversity! It was a fun event with a wide variety of very talented and inspiring acts. I performed to a song by Fiest called When I was a Young Girl and it was the first time I included continuous spinning into an act. It was tricky at first but was well worth it since my costume was a beautiful and flowing skirt.
After that performance I had to quickly run to catch the LRT straight to downtown for a show at the Temple with an amazing group called Vibe Tribe. They were putting on a blacklight show and asked me if I would do a poi set. It went well and they've asked me to join their tribe. I am very excited to be working with other like-minded people and collaborating to make beautiful performances. Also I'm stoked about spinning some more poi. I LOVE hula hooping, but I have poi to thank for introducing me to object manipulation. Working with the Vibe Tribe is going to give me a reason to rekindle my love of poi and I'm looking forward to busting out a new move for every performance. ; )
Much love and all the best,

Hello!!
Over the last few weeks I have been taking an aerial skills class. It has been super fun to experiment with body movement in a whole new way. I'm thinking the trapeze and other aerials arts may become my next obsession. ; )
Much love and keep that body moving!

SaFire Tutorials on iTunes!
Hello Hoopers!!
Many times I have been hooping in a park somewhere and wished I had access to YouTube so I could remember something I was trying to learn and watch it again...
Have you ever had that desire?
Now you can easily download Safire Dance videos onto your iPod and take them wherever you need to go to practice.
Safire Dance Video Tutorials are now available through iTunes and after subscribing to the podcast your iTunes will automatically download any new videos posted. It will take awhile for the podcast to be available by searching the iTunes so if you can't wait to have the videos available in your iTunes and on your iPod just follow these instructions.
Click on the orange button. On the right hand side will be a list of options to view the site as an RSS feed using a reader. If you'd like to use iTunes to view the videos simply choose "add to iTunes" from the list of Subscribe Now! options.
SaFire Dance should show up in your Podcast listings in your iTunes. Be sure to make sure that the next time you hook your iPod up to your computer that you click the podcast tab on your iPod and check off the right boxes so it will sync your podcasts as well.
I am new to podcasting, blogging, video editing and RSS feeds so please let me know if something is not working as it should.
Much love,
~ SaFire ~

Last night was my first hooping gig. I performed casually for three hours at the West Edmonton mall during their Mardi Gras event. Children were amazed but often shy when I approached them to say hi. Customers in the restaurants sat and ate while enjoying the performances. I also did some poi spinning throughout the night too. At one point instead of taking a break I decided to try out some contact juggling and was happily embarrassed when I nailed a full sequence of body rolls and a crowded table at one of the restaurants burst into applause. I looked up and realized it was for me.
I had an excellent time and can't wait to perform again.

Hello Hoopers!
So my second ever hoop tutorial has made it onto Hooping.org's trick of the week!
This is excellent because it will help share my lessons with a larger audience and it is an amazing site. Thank you Hooping.org!
(If you've never visited their site before, seriously leave now and go check it out. I won't be offended. No really, go it's okay.)
The instructional tutorial was on one leg hooping and covered how to bring out the leg, maintain one leg hooping and jump back in. It can be found in the How-To videos under Leg Hooping.
This hoop dancing tutorial thing is off to a great start. ; )

Hello Hoopers!
My very first gig was this week and I made one of my first hoop costumes for it. I wanted to see how it looked while hooping so I made a video.
If you like the white ruffles on the bottom of the skirt, I used a tutorial from Burdastyle.com and learnt for the first time how to make circular ruffles.
